2017 Virginia Teacher of the Year
Toney Lee McNair Jr., a choral music teacher at Indian River Middle School in Chesapeake, was named 2017 Virginia Teacher of the Year during an October 17 recognition ceremony at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond.
ESSA Accountability Indicators Survey
VDOE is asking parents, educators and other citizens interested in the commonwealth’s public schools to complete a brief online survey on school quality and accountability. Results from the survey will help inform the development of the commonwealth’s plan to implement the federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015. The survey will remain active through Wednesday, November 9.
