Standards of Learning Released Tests

Each spring, the Virginia Department of Education releases a sample set of Standards of Learning (SOL) tests that were administered to Virginia public school students during the previous spring test administration. The sets of released tests are not inclusive of all SOL tests administered during the previous year; however, the tests are representative of the content and skills assessed by the SOL assessment program.

The released SOL tests available below are published in the format used for paper/pencil versions of the tests. These tests, except for the writing tests, are also administered to students as online tests. When administered on a computer, the content and format of individual test questions are the same, but a student views only one question at a time on the computer screen. A subset of the released tests posted below also are available in the online format in the Electronic Practice Assessment Tool (ePAT).

Each year listed below is linked to the set of released SOL tests that were administered during the spring of that year.  Adobe Acrobat Reader^® is needed to open the files and specific copyright information is included within each test.

The released SOL tests available below were developed to assess earlier versions of the SOL and are based on previous versions of the SOL test blueprints.  The SOL and test blueprints are no longer active.
