Welcome to the Agricultural Education
Program in Virginia. The Agricultural Education discipline contains five programs of study. These
programs are designed to prepare students to enter various occupations in horticulture, agricultural
business, natural resources management, agricultural machinery, and production agriculture.
Agricultural Education stresses the development of skills in all aspects of agricultural businesses
and industries. Included in the studies are skills related to planning, management, safety, finances,
and leadership.
An integral part of the agricultural education program is the FFA. The FFA provides all agricultural
education students opportunities to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. Leadership
activities enhance the experiences of the students.
