Overview of the Business and Information Technology Courses

Access the site for the Administrative Planning Guide to review complete information for the Business and Information Technology Program, such as approved course sequence options and industry certification requirements.

Local school divisions may decide to adjust the curriculum framework to enhance local requirements. They may adopt alternate course titles, additional (multiple) periods, longer time frames, and additional prerequisites. Other ways to modify the framework for successful program operation include choosing sequences of course offerings and assigning grade levels that meet local needs. If desired, local school divisions may add locally developed competencies and measures of achievement to the framework.

  • Business Management (Code locally as IB6135 and on CTERS as BUS6135)
  • Information Technology in a Global Society (Code locally as IB6613 and on CTERS as BUS6613)

Dual Enrollment with Postsecondary Institutions:

Note:  There are additional courses that are acceptable, but they were not recommended as part of the revised business curriculum.  Local school divisions may work with the program specialist at the Department of Education to determine if additional course codes may be used in reporting class enrollments.  In those situations, local school divisions will need to develop their own competency-based curriculum, have it validated by the local advisory committee, and document student achievement.
