The Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia, Requirements for Graduation (8VAC 20-131-50.B.4, Footnote 5, and C.2, Footnote 5), permit students who are earning a Standard Diploma or an Advanced Studies Diploma to earn one of the total number of verified credits that are required for graduation in an area other than the Standards of Learning.

A student may utilize additional assessments for earning verified credit in computer science, technology, or other areas as prescribed by the Board in 8 VAC 20-131-110.B (8VAC 20-131-50.B.4, Footnote 5, and C.2, Footnote 5).

The Board has approved a number of certifications and license examinations for the student-selected test for earning verified credit.
