Earth in Space: Teacher Training Module, K-6, Science Museum of Virginia
This module is a professional development resource of the Virginia Department of Education developed by the Science Museum of Virginia for astronomy in grades K through 6.

Lessons From the Bay
This resource provides Virginia schoolteachers of grades 3 through 6 a variety of activities and projects related to protecting and restoring the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The activities are easily adapted to any watershed.

Physical Science SOLutions K-6, Science Museum of Virginia
The Physical Science SOLutions (K-6) activities in this module were developed by the Science Museum of Virginia over many years to encourage hands-on science in the classroom.

Virginia Natural Resources Education Guide K-7, Virginia Resource-Use Education Council
This guide contains background information and lessons on Virginia’s Natural Resources.

Virginia's Water Resources: A Tool for Teachers (K-8)
A guide containing information and activities for teachers to support interdisciplinary and problem-based teaching about watersheds, water quality, stewardship, and management issues. Supports the Chesapeake 2000 Agreement's goal to "provide a meaningful Bay or stream outdoor experience for every school student in the watershed before graduation from high school."

Ag in the Classroom
The Virginia Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) is an integrated educational teacher training program designed to foster an understanding of how agriculture affects the quality of our lives.

American Association for the Advancement of Science
The American Association for the Advancement of Science, ”Triple A-S” (AAAS), is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association.

Building a Presence for Science (BAPS)
The mission of Building a Presence for Science is to end the isolation of classroom science teachers and to provide them with professional development opportunities and science teaching resources.

Chesapeake Academic Resources for Teachers (ChART)
ChART is a resource designed to help educators provide meaningful watershed educational experiences to their students. ChART offers educators Bay related lesson plans and activities, field studies and professional development opportunities.

Chesapeake Bay Foundation
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest conservation organization dedicated solely to saving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. CBF’s teacher professional development initiatives, student education programs, and classroom curricula are designed to support state standards and action mandated by the regional Chesapeake 2000 Agreement.

Chesapeake Bay Program
The Chesapeake Bay Program is the unique regional partnership that's been directing and conducting the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay since the signing of the historic Chesapeake Bay Agreement of 1983. The Bay Program partners include the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia; the District of Columbia; the Chesapeake Bay Commission, a tri-state legislative body; the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, representing the federal government; and participating advisory groups.

CHESSIE (Chesapeake Science on the Internet for Educators)
CHESSIE provides educators with access to quality Bay-related education resources, online data and professional development opportunities, and provides researchers, resource managers and other Bay stakeholders with a venue for sharing information and connecting with K-12 classrooms.

Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)
DCR enhances natural and recreational resources through land management planning, funding, education and regulation.

Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
The Virginia Office of Environmental Education, housed at DEQ, is Virginia ’s clearinghouse for environmental education and information. DEQ works with public and private organizations to deliver quality environmental education programs that meet state academic standards and engage citizens in conservation activities.

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is the nation's highest honor for teachers of mathematics and science. The Awards recognize exemplary K-12 teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession.

Rabies Awareness Information
The Virginia Department of Health, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), has developed a rabies awareness educational packet entitled “Stay Away From Strays.” The health department is making this information available including a lesson plan, presentation information, and brochures, to Virginia’s public elementary schools in anticipation of Rabies Awareness Week, April 3-8, 2006.
