K-3 Mathematics Achievement Record Samples
Schools shall maintain, in a manner prescribed by the board, an early skills and knowledge achievement record in reading and math for each student in kindergarten through grade 3 to monitor student progress and to promote successful achievement on the third grade SOL tests. This record shall be included with a student's records if the student transfers to a new school.

K-5 Mathematics Module: Number and Number Sense
The purpose of the Number and Number Sense module is to enhance teachers’ content knowledge and their use of instructional strategies for teaching the number and number sense strand. Through explorations, problem-solving, reasoning, and hands-on experiences, teachers will engage students in activities that address many dimensions of number and number sense including counting, combining, sorting, comparing sets of objects, comparing whole numbers, rounding of numbers, and exploring place-value and fraction and decimal concepts to develop number understanding.

Thinking Rationally about Fractions, Decimals and Percent Instructional Activities (Grades 4-8) 2002
These lessons assist elementary and middle school teachers by providing additional strategies and to standards instruction in the areas of fractions, decimals, percent, and proportional thinking.

Geometry for Elementary School Teachers (2001)

Mathematics Vocabulary
Language in mathematics is important because it is necessary for communication, mathematics reasoning, and precision. Words, symbols, and diagrams must map onto each other. The definitions or explanations given are not definitions or explanations that students should memorize but are the mathematics that the teacher should know in order to provide in-depth instruction in the content.

Federal Resources for Free Educational Resources
More than 30 Federal agencies formed a working group in 1997 to make hundreds of Federally supported teaching and learning resources easier to find. The result of that work is the FREE web site. The U.S. Department of Education (ED), on behalf of the FREE Working Group, was selected in 1997 by the Government Information Technology Services Board to support federal agencies that would partner with teachers to develop online learning materials and learning communities around agency resources.

My Child’s Academic Success Helping Your Child Learn Mathematics K – Grade 5
The Helping Your Child publication series from the U.S. Department of Education aims to provide parents with the tools and information necessary to help their children succeed in school and life. This math booklet features practical lessons and activities to help school aged and preschool children master math skills.

The Math Forum
Offers a large searchable database and Ask Dr. Math, a question-answering service. This resource is designed for teachers, students, parents, and researchers.

Mathematics Archives
A good place to start a search; includes educational software, laboratory notebooks, problem sets, lecture notes, and an extensive list of K-12 teaching materials. Useful to mathematicians, educators, students, and researchers.
