This tutorial should be used prior to students taking the Standards of Learning end-of-course English: reading assessment. It aids teachers in giving targeted assistance tailored to the needs of individual students. Participants must register and receive accounts.

Understanding Scoring
Understanding Scoring is a training tool designed to help Virginia’s teachers prepare students for the English Standards of Learning Direct Writing Assessment. Teachers will gain better understanding of the Direct Writing Assessments for end-of-course and understand the use of rubrics in scoring student writing, and develop consistency in scoring actual student work.

Virginia Electronic Practice Assessment Tool
The resources here are intended to support and enhance student preparation for the Standards of Learning Assessment. These tutorials provide direct exposure to the format and structure of the questions, and enable users to receive direct feedback for each item. (Users can also download and print resource information for tips, techniques, and strategies related to reading and writing.)
