Virginia Electronic Practice Assessment Tool
The resources here are intended to support and enhance student preparation for the Standards of Learning Assessment. These tutorials provide direct exposure to the format and structure of the questions, and enable users to receive direct feedback for each item. Users can also download and print resource information for tips, techniques, and strategies related to reading and writing.

Experimenting with Enzymes
An Experimenting with Enzymes laboratory manual was produced during the l999-2000 academic year. It contains experiments dealing with enzyme kinetics through scientific investigation. These topics relate to several biology and chemistry SOL.

Safety in Science Teaching
This manual was developed to provide a summary of safety information relevant to public school teachers and administrators.

Watershed Experiences
This product contains a series of four videotapes of field experiences related to the Chesapeake Bay watershed and correlated to the Biology Standards of Learning. These are videos of actual classes and are conducted by scientists and educators from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The videos, with accompanying support materials, may be requested by contacting paula.klonowski@doe.virginia.gov.

American Association for the Advancement of Science
The American Association for the Advancement of Science, ”Triple A-S” (AAAS), is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association.

Building a Presence for Science (BAPS)
The mission of Building a Presence for Science is to end the isolation of classroom science teachers and to provide them with professional development opportunities and science teaching resources.

Chesapeake Academic Resources for Teachers (ChART)
ChART is a resource designed to help educators provide meaningful watershed educational experiences to their students. ChART offers educators Bay related lesson plans and activities, field studies and professional development opportunities.

Chesapeake Bay Foundation
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest conservation organization dedicated solely to saving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. CBF’s teacher professional development initiatives, student education programs, and classroom curricula are designed to support state standards and action mandated by the regional Chesapeake 2000 Agreement.

Chesapeake Bay Program
The Chesapeake Bay Program is the unique regional partnership that's been directing and conducting the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay since the signing of the historic Chesapeake Bay Agreement of 1983. The Bay Program partners include the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia; the District of Columbia; the Chesapeake Bay Commission, a tri-state legislative body; the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, representing the federal government; and participating advisory groups.

CHESSIE (Chesapeake Science on the Internet for Educators)
CHESSIE provides educators with access to quality Bay-related education resources, online data and professional development opportunities, and provides researchers, resource managers and other Bay stakeholders with a venue for sharing information and connecting with K-12 classrooms.

Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)
DCR enhances natural and recreational resources through land management planning, funding, education and regulation.

Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
The Virginia Office of Environmental Education, housed at DEQ, is Virginia ’s clearinghouse for environmental education and information. DEQ works with public and private organizations to deliver quality environmental education programs that meet state academic standards and engage citizens in conservation activities.

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is the nation's highest honor for teachers of mathematics and science. The Awards recognize exemplary K-12 teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession.

Virginia Junior Academy of Science
The VJAS, through its active statewide programs, serves as an effective stimulus for scientific research by sponsoring programs for the advancement of science in grades 7 through 12 and by encouraging students to enter scientific research investigations in competition for awards at the annual VJAS meeting.
