Instructional Activity or Strategy
Help for the Homeless
Through leadership as individuals, in small groups, or in community
service organizations, students will learn how to help the homeless
people in their community.
Steps To Complete the Activity
Have students
- Contact community leaders to identify the needs of homeless people
in the community.
- Meet in groups to prioritize the needs of three homeless groups—men,
women, and children. For example, children may need school supplies,
men may need warm jackets, and women may need warm gloves and hats.
- Organize a collection drive for needed articles.
- Plan the distribution of articles.
- Deliver articles to arranged destination.
