Virginia Department of Education and Virginia Tech
Educators and education professionals will have the opportunity to learn about new and emerging technologies for the classroom during an exposition sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and Virginia Tech. Innovate 2007 will be held Tuesday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. “Unlike national technology conferences, Innovate 2007 is designed specifically to meet the needs of Virginia educators,” said Lan Neugent, VDOE assistant superintendent for technology and human resources. “This is a unique opportunity for educators to try out emerging technologies that could be commonplace within the next few years.” Innovate 2007 will feature presentations and interactive exhibits showcasing the major components of the commonwealth’s long-range technology plan: education-related applications, technology integration, professional development, connectivity, and accountability. The 35 participating exhibitors will provide hands-on opportunities with cutting-edge technologies and products, as well as innovations currently being developed in university and corporate research laboratories. Futurists and thought leaders will discuss the promises and limitations of educational technologies and products. Information on the expo and ticket information is available at www.innovate2007.org.
