Examiner Tips for 2008 SELP Test Administration

Prior to Testing:

  • Prepare students for taking the test
  • Review bubbling procedure with students
  • Become familiar with all non-secure materials
  • Review detailed Speaking Test Rubric and Speaking Test Form

During Testing:

  • Say to students, “If you can’t respond, its okay.”
  • Encourage students
  • Use the stopping algorithm when necessary
  • Monitor the classroom
  • Check subtest symbols in booklets
  • Have a supply of No. 2 pencils with erasers
  • Test Materials: non-secure DFA (Reading, Writing, and coding information), secure DFA (Listening and Speaking prompts only), Test booklets, and Response booklets

Post Testing:

  • Check students’ response booklets to make sure that all erasures are complete with no stray marks
  • Make sure the demographic information on the students’ response booklet has been filled out completely
  • Refer to the DFA to prepare materials for return to your building coordinator
