The Office of Educational Technology (ET) functions as an entity in the Technology Division. The scope of services provided by ET includes the following:

Leadership, consultation, and technical assistance to K-12 schools in the effective uses of educational technology to improve student learning |

Disseminate information on emerging educational technologies to school divisions |
| • |
Provide assistance to school division in the implementation of Computer/Technology Standards for Students and the Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel |
| • |
Provide training in the utilization and infusion of educational technology in K-12 classrooms |
| • |
Identify best practices of technology training and infusion |
| • |
Recommends methods and measures to evaluate learning and technology applications |
| • |
Facilitates local school division development of technology plans |
| • |
Assists schools in planning and implementing network solutions and developing infrastructure standards |
| • |
Disseminating information on emerging educational technologies to local school divisions via both Richmond-based and regional meetings, teleconferences, a Web site and a statewide educational technology leadership conference |

Develop staff development training models |

Provide training and consultant services to local school divisions |

Activities |

Facilitates the development, implementation and revision of the state technology plan: providing leadership, training and support for development of school division technology plans. This also includes evaluation, and assisting with the revision and updating of local plans. |

Disseminates information on emerging educational technologies to local school division via teleconferences, on-line bulletin boards, regional meetings and a statewide educational technology leadership conference. |

Provides information updates training and consultant services in the selection and instructional applications of instructional software. |

Develops technology-training models. |

Provides consultant services and technical assistance to school administrators and library media specialists on implementation of library media programs. |
| • |
Provides school divisions with technical assistance in infrastructure and computer applications, and maintains two Richmond-based training facilities. |

Provides school divisions and the department of education with developing, monitoring and overseeing the DOE responsibilities of instructional television contracts and technical assistance and training to divisions with ITV and technology issues. |
