Don’t forget to check out the new Features that pop-up on the main Thinkfinity page every time you access the site. These features take a topic (often those in the news) and bring together several Thinkfinity resources that can be used by teachers to excite students about that topic.
From the main page, you can also access the new Thinkfinity @ your library site, which organizes Thinkfinity materials for a library setting. This partnership with the American Library Association (ALA) will also provide original content in the near future, just for Library Media Specialists!
Make sure to steer your afterschool program providers to Thinkfinity Afterschool, another site that uses Thinkfinity resources reorganized to fit the needs of a vital part of many students’ education. And the biggest influence, Parents, also have their own special place on Thinkfinity Parent.
Thinkfinity has begun a multi-step process to align all Thinkfinity materials (all 55,000+!!) to all state standards. When you conduct a search, some items listed in your search results will be marked with a bright yellow star. Click on the star, find Virginia in the pull-down list of states and click the arrow next to the list to see alignments with Virginia SOL. This process is just beginning so expect that you’ll see more and more of these cheerful stars over the rest of the year.
You can also find correlations between Thinkfinity resources and Virginia SOL in the following Excel spreadsheets. These were culled from reports by your fellow educators who took the online train-the-trainers class. You are welcome to sort and re-sort these in any way you find useful. The Math, Language Arts and Science spreadsheets are currently sorted by Lesson Title so you can see which ones were most popular and appropriate for Virginia educators. The Social Studies spreadsheet is first sorted by sub-topic (such as Geography, Civics, etc.) then by lesson title. Enjoy!
