SUPTS. MEMO NO. 24
May 17, 2002

ADMINISTRATIVE

TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Jo Lynne DeMary
             Superintendent of Public Instruction
SUBJECT: Web-based Standards of Learning Survey

The intent of the Web-based Standards of Learning Technology Initiative is to use Web-enabled systems to improve the instructional, remedial, and testing capabilities of high schools as they implement the Standards of Learning program.

As the Department of Education proceeds with the transition to online testing, the Division of Assessment and Reporting requests that school divisions complete a brief survey to determine interest in participating in online testing from summer 2002 through spring 2003. School divisions are asked to complete and return this survey by May 31, 2002. The survey is available at http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Technology/soltech/soltech.html. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and prompt response.

For more information, please contact Mark Schaefermeyer (mschaefe@mail.vak12ed.edu), associate director for Web-based assessment, at 804-225-2998. JLD/SLR/mjs
