Preliminary SAT (PSAT)
Test Ordering Information for the October 2006 Administration |
|
The Preliminary SAT®/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a co-sponsored program by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The PSAT measures:
- Critical reading skills
- Math problem-solving skills
- Writing skills
Program Highlights:
- All 10th graders in NGA Honor Schools will take the PSAT in October, 2006.
- Each school should order tests for all students, including 10th graders. Remember that you can log on to the system at any time to make changes to your order, if necessary, at any time. Please pay close attention to the following key dates:
June 15 - Deadline date to place initial order to ETS to ensure early and timely receipt of the Official Student Guides. September 1 - Last date to decrease your orders, if necessary. September 29 - Last date to increase your orders, if necessary.
- When you submit your remittance reports (accessed online, filled in, printed out, and mailed with payment), at that time, you will have an opportunity to make a note that the Virginia Department of Education, are paying the cost of testing 10th graders, and you will be able to deduct the 10th graders' cost from your total invoice.
- You will get instructions on how to remit in the Official Educator's Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT, which will arrive in late August. If any school fails to remit following the test, ETS will send you an invoice in January for the balance you owe for students minus your 10th graders.
- The College Board suggests a Wednesday testing to maximize participation by 10th graders.
