The General Assembly has designated the week of October 21-27, 2001, as Read Aloud to a Child Week. Superintendent’s Memo No. 148 concerning Read Aloud to a Child Week can be located on the Department of Education’s Web site at http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/suptsmemos/2001. We encourage all schools to promote reading aloud during this week. On the Read Aloud Virginia Web site (http://infopowering.lib.va.us/rav), you can find copies of a celebration tip sheet, certificate, sample parent’s letter, read aloud brochures, etc.
