The Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development will hold its annual conference on December 5-7, 2001, at the Williamsburg Marriott.

This year's conference, Searching for Balance, is designed to bring together Content Knowledge and Effective Instruction. In the pre-conference on December 5 Roger Taylor, noted educator, will explore Critical Thinking as a Key to Learning Content. During the conference on December 6 and 7, two general sessions featuring Clay Jenkinson of radio fame as Mr. Jefferson and Joel Levine of NASA on Global Warming, will focus on challenging ideas from history and the physical sciences. On Thursday afternoon Pam Robbins, an international consultant, will show how Brain-Based Instructional Strategies Affect Content Learning. Finally, the last general session will feature Clifton Taulbert, noted author and lecturer, speaking on Building Character and Community Through the Eight Habits of the Heart.

Over 45 concurrent sessions will feature educators from Virginia's school divisions, universities, and the Department of Education addressing content teaching, instructional strategies, and leadership.
