No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 – DOE Hour |
The DOE Staff
Development telecasts begin Tuesday, September 10 at 2 p.m., with a new series
of programs providing teachers an overview of the federal education act known
as No Child Left Behind.
Understanding No Child Left Behind is a series of programs that will
examine the major provisions and requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, and,
in doing so, help teachers and other educators better understand the goals of
this new educational law. Each program
begins with an overview of the No Child
Left Behind Act of 2001 featuring Superintendent of Public Instruction Jo
Lynne DeMary, then focuses on a specific component of the legislation and what
it means for Virginia’s schools. The
series will focus on a different component each week, beginning September 10
and running through October 22.
The DOE Hour,
as it is often referred to, is a twice weekly broadcast of videos to support
school staff development programs over public television most Tuesdays at 2 and
2:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 2 – 3 p.m., throughout the school year, with a
focus on the Standards of Learning and increasing student achievement. The monthly schedule for the DOE Hour is
posted on the department Web site at:
