Resources for Teaching English and History and Social Science through Foreign
Language |
The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to announce the development of a Web site
with instructional resources with connections in foreign language, English,
history and social science. These
instructional activities developed by teachers from across the commonwealth
correlate the Standards of Learning for French, German, Latin, and Spanish with
those in English and history and social science.
Language
levels and connections between Standards of Learning are identified in each
lesson and each lesson can be adapted to meet the needs of the students.
The purpose
of the Web site is to provide resources to teachers to enhance awareness of
connections among disciplines and the use of instructional strategies
correlating the Standards of Learning for foreign language, English, and
history and social science.
The Web site
for Instructional Resources is available at:
http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/Language/Resources/WRindex.html.
The instructional activities are in Word format. Additional resources include links for assessment rubrics and
general links helpful for foreign language instruction.
If you need
additional information, please contact Faye Rollings-Carter (mailto:frolling@pen.k12.va.us),
principal specialist for foreign languages, at (804) 225-2593.
