and Policy Forum |
The Virginia Student/Parent Mock
Election (VSPME), a non-partisan voter education project, provides an
opportunity for students and parents to participate in the political process by
simulating an election in their school. Class activities present candidates for
the General Assembly as well as issues in the November 2004 election. Students
will vote in October. Maggie L. Walker Governor’s Schools will announce the
election results on October 28, 2004.
All public, private, and home schools
grades k-12 are invited to participate. To register, please complete the form
found at http://www.va-mockelection.org/register.html.
In addition, schools may register at
the above site for space at the Virginia Youth Policy Forum to be held at the
Virginia State Capitol October 20, 2004.
The VSPME is also sponsoring a poster contest focusing on the importance of civics education. Submissions are due to VSPME by October 15, 2004.
