Training and Technical Assistance Centers for Persons
Serving Students with Disabilities |
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you with information about the newly designed Training and Technical Assistance Centers (T/TAC) for persons serving students with disabilities. The Virginia Department of Education's regional T/TACs comprise a statewide system which emphasizes collaboration in the planning and provision of services to meet locally identified needs of persons serving students with disabilities (birth through graduation). Such services include training and technical assistance by direct means or linking other resources to identified needs. Several changes from the operation and design of past TACs include the following: - the services address a broader range of persons serving students with special needs to address instructional development, - each T/TAC addresses a full range of disabilities and ages, and - the centers are aligned and identify with the eight (8) Superintendent's Regional Study Groups. Attached, for your information is the T/TAC Directory. A copy of this information has been forwarded to local directors of special education under separate cover.
