SUBJECT: Underground Heating Oil Tank Exemption

  
  Enclosed is a copy of a letter sent by the Department of
  Environmental Quality (DEQ) to registered heating oil tank
  owners concerning the elimination of regulation of heating
  oil storage tanks, when the heating oil is used on the
  premises.  Although DEQ indicated that they notified all
  registered tank owners, the elimination of this regulation
  does not seem to be  common knowledge among school
  divisions.  Please contact the DEQ regional office nearest
  you if you have any technical questions.

  Please note that spills and releases from these unregulated
  tanks still need to be reported, and your liability for any
  damage to the environment is maintained.  For general
