Use of Existing Educational Facilities |
Enclosed is a brochure describing a workshop that we are co-sponsoring with Virginia Tech's Division of Continuing Education in Blacksburg on February 24-25, 1997. There will be a two day interactive workshop using evaluation tools to objectively evaluate existing buildings to determine the feasibility of renovation and includes, a lunch on Monday, a banquet on Monday evening, a continental breakfast on Tuesday morning, and a lunch on Tuesday. There will also be an exhibit of recent school projects completed in Virginia and a distinguished jury to give recognition from the Department of Education to the most successful projects. Plaques will be presented to the architects and winning schools in four categories. A meeting of Virginia Educational Facility Planners (VEFP) is scheduled for after the banquet on Monday evening. This new organization, now a chapter of the Council of Educational Facility Planners, Southeast Region, wants your input on future programs and meeting locations. Please plan to attend and express your needs to the Board of Trustees and participate in the election of new officers. Please register directly with Virginia Tech using the form in the brochure. For questions on the program please call David L. Boddy, Director, Facilities Services at (804) 225-2035. RTL:cle Enclosures: A hard copy of this memo and its enclosures will be sent to the superintendent's office.
