SUBJECT: Report of Teacher Salary Survey 


  Administrative Supts. Memo. No. 61, dated August 22, 1997,
  collected data on average classroom teacher salaries for 1997-98.
  No mandate to raise teacher salaries was included in the
  Appropriations Act for the 1997-98 school year; however, the
  General Assembly did provide a salary supplement of 4%
  effective January 1, 1998.

  The attached report has been provided to the Chairmen of the
  House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees and to the
  members of the State Board of Education.
