ADMINISTRATIVE

  In accordance with the provisions of 22.1-281 through
  22.1-286, Code of Virginia, March 1 through July 15,
  1999, is designated as the period during which the 1999
  School Census will be conducted and completed.  Your
  summary of census returns must be received by the
  Department of Education no later than August 16, 1999.

  School divisions will be required to submit a summary
  count of all people ages 5-19 residing in their
  respective counties, cities, and towns.  This single
  statistic will be reported on the Superintendent's
  Summary of Census Returns (Form SA.030) and subsequently
  verified with division superintendents.  The census
  enumeration form (Form SA.028) has been modified to
  reflect current statutory requirements. A sample copy of
  the form is attached.  Counts by age, gender, and
  handicapping condition have been eliminated.  Prior
  approval of locally developed enumeration forms is no
  longer required.

  The attached form requests the name, mailing address,
  phone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of your
  designated 1999 school census contact person.  Also
  requested is information on the use of the Department of
  Education enumeration form (SA.028) for the 1999 census. 
  Please return this form by December 15, 1998.

  The instructions, forms and other information relating to
  conduct of the 1999 School Census will be sent on or
  about January 8, 1999.
