Urgent School Renovation and Technology Grants |
The
United States Department of Education has awarded Virginia a grant of
$16,877,946 to award as subgrants to school divisions for part A Emergency
School Repairs and Renovations, and part B Technology Activities related to
school repairs and renovation.
The
awards will be made on a competitive basis to school divisions that qualify as
either “High Poverty” in which 30 percent or more of the enrolled students are
considered to be poor as defined by the Office of Management and Budget, or,
“Rural” in which 75 percent or more of the division’s students attend a rural
school as defined in the U. S. Department of Education’s Common Core of Data
Public School Universe file.
Attachment
A is a listing of school divisions in Virginia that qualify as high poverty,
and Attachment B is a listing of school divisions that qualify as rural. Only these divisions are eligible to apply
for these competitive grant awards. The
awards will be based upon the applications from eligible school divisions;
however, not all eligible school divisions will receive a grant award. School
divisions that do not meet the criteria of either high poverty or rural do not
qualify and will not be considered for an award.
Attachment
C contains the instructions for completing both the school renovation grant
application and the technology grant application. Attachment D contains the grant application package for the
school renovation grant. Attachment E
contains the grant application package for completing the technology grant.
