SUBJECT: |
Certification for the Algebra Readiness Diagnostic Tests |
As part of the Algebra Readiness Initiative, the Department
of Education has awarded a contract through the Request for Proposals process
to Vantage Learning to work with Virginia educators in the development of
on-line diagnostic mathematics tests.
These tests will enable participating school divisions to identify
mathematics deficiencies of students in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9.
School divisions have the option of using the state-provided
diagnostic tests (available in January) developed by Vantage Learning. School divisions may also use locally
developed or selected diagnostic tests that align with the criteria for
diagnosing mathematics deficiencies.
Information regarding the criteria established for the tests is included
on the attached certification form.
School divisions should submit the certification form by December 7,
2001.
For additional information, contact Dr. Wendy Geiger (wgeiger@mail.vak12.edu), middle instruction mathematics specialist,
