SUBJECT:	Resolution on the K-12 Education Components of the State Budget

At its meeting on October 16, 2002, the Virginia Board of Education adopted the attached resolution on the K-12 education components of the state budget. The resolution, which was adopted by unanimous vote, has been forwarded to the Governor and to the members of the General Assembly for their consideration.

The resolution states the Board of Education’s support for public education as the highest priority in the state budget and that certain core educational programs in the K-12 public education budget should be given priority for maintaining spending.

We hope that you will share a copy of the resolution with the members of your local school board and others in your community, as you deem appropriate.
