Curriculum Guidelines for Child Abuse Recognition and Intervention Training |
On March 26, 2003, the Board of Education approved the
Curriculum Guidelines for Child Abuse Recognition and Intervention
Training. The Board of Education took
this action in response to SB 92 that requires “… on and after July 1, 2004,
persons seeking initial licensure as teachers and persons seeking licensure
renewal as teachers for the first time after such date complete study in child
abuse recognition and intervention in accordance with curriculum guidelines
developed by the Board of Education in consultation with the Department of
Social Services that are relevant to the specific teacher licensure routes.”
The Curriculum Guidelines for Child Abuse/Neglect Training approved by the Board of Education serves as the basis for all professional development training in child abuse recognition and intervention. Included with the curriculum guidelines are resources that may be helpful as training is planned.
School divisions may design their own training or utilize other training opportunities. Contact your local Department of Social Services office as a training resource or to work collaboratively to plan training.
Questions and
technical assistance requests about the Curriculum Guidelines may be directed
