SUBJECT:	Title IV: Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, Fiscal Year 2005-2006 Progress Report

Section 4116 of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires the collection of information about state and local implementation of the SDFSCA. States are required to submit information on state and local programs conducted with assistance furnished through the SDFSCA. Information from school divisions is required for inclusion in the Virginia report to the United States Department of Education.

This memorandum is to inform you that the Safe and Drug-Free School coordinators were notified on October 25,2006, that the SDFSCA progress report for the fiscal year 2005 (July 1, 2005 – June 30, 2006) was tentatively due to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Education by December 1, 2006. The deadline has been extended to December 6, 2006.

Items in the report remain essentially unchanged from previous years’ reports. As initiated last year, the progress reports are to be submitted online at the Web site http://www.safeanddrugfreeva.org/. The online submission form and full instructions for submission can be found at this Web site.

Individual user name and the password for each division has already been mailed to the SDFSCA school division coordinators. This information is necessary to log onto the survey site to complete the report.
