Virtual Virginia School Course Catalog, Web Link and
Spring Registrations
|
The
Department of Education encourages school divisions to include courses offered
by Virtual Virginia School
in their secondary program of studies.
The course listings are posted in the Course Catalog section of the Web
site: www.virtualvirginia.org. The course listings for the 2007-2008
academic year will be available by December 15,
2006. All current courses will be
available and additional course offerings are being reviewed and will be posted
to the Web site.
The
Department of Education also requests that school divisions include a link to Virtual Virginia School
on their division Web site. This link
may be downloaded from http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Technology/VAPS.html.
School
divisions are reminded that the Virtual
Virginia School
will continue to accept registrations for the 2006/2007 4x4 spring semester
block courses through January 30, 2007.
Students
enrolling in Virtual Virginia who are participants in the Early College
Scholars program will have tuition and Advanced Placement examination fees for
any Virtual Virginia Advanced Placement course paid by the Department of
Education. World language courses are
tuition-free for all Virginia
public school students. Information
about the program is available at www.virtualvirginia.org.
Courses in the
Virtual Virginia School
can be taken asynchronously and are designed to offer maximum flexibility for
students with scheduling conflicts.
These classes also support school divisions with enrollments too small
for a full-time instructor. Highly
qualified and fully licensed Virginia
instructors teach these courses and schools participating are
supported by a team of technical support staff and a school counselor. Online classes utilize course management
software and Web conferencing to enhance the learning environment for
students.
If you need
additional information on the Virtual Virginia Advanced Placement program,
please contact Cathy Cheely (mail to cathy.cheely@doe.virginia.gov),
e-learning coordinator at (804) 225-2972.
