Nominations
for the 2008 Standards of Learning Assessment Review Committees for Special
and “Plain English” Mathematics Test Forms |
The Office of Assessment Development is accepting nominations from
November 30, 2007, to January 31, 2008, for participation in the following
committees:
1. 2008 Standards of Learning Assessment Special Test Forms Review
Committee, and
2. 2008 Standards of
Learning Assessment “Plain English” Mathematics Test Forms Review Committees
(four separate committees).
You are invited to identify educator(s) in your division for each
of these five committees. All nominees must submit an
application through the Web-based process, Assessment
Committee Application Processing System (ACAPS). An Internet browser must be
used to access ACAPS at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Assessment/ACAPS/index.htm
or visit the Virginia Department of Education’s Web site at
http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/Assessment/home.shtml
and select the ACAPS link.
Descriptions of the committees
The Special Test Forms Review Committee will be responsible for reviewing test items on the Braille, large-print,
and regular audio special forms for students who are visually impaired. Committee nominees should be educators with
expertise in special education and experience with the administration of
Braille, large-print, and regular audio special test forms.
The “Plain English” Test Forms Review Committees will be responsible for reviewing test items on “Plain English”
mathematics test forms. The “Plain English” mathematics tests incorporate the
same content as the regular mathematics tests, but items have been modified to
address issues for non-native English speakers. There will be four separate
committees to represent grades 3 and 4, grades 5 and 6, grades 7 and 8, and
Algebra I. Committee nominees should be educators with expertise in limited
English proficiency, experience in the instruction of mathematics (at one or
more grade levels, 3 through 8 or Algebra I) and in-depth knowledge of the
Standards of Learning.
Selection process
Twelve members will be selected for each committee. All members
selected for these committees will be expected to:
§
serve a one-year term;
§
sign a Non-Disclosure/Conflict of Interest
