Re-Broadcast
of Teleconference on SOA Implications for Guidance Counselors |
On November
28, 2001, the Department of Education conducted a teleconference via satellite
on the topic of the Regulations
Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia (often
called the Standards of Accreditation) and how they relate to graduation
requirements in Virginia. This
90-minute broadcast will be repeated in two parts on the DOE Hour in January
2002. Part I will air on Thursday,
January 10, 2002, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Part II will be broadcast on Tuesday, January 15, 2002, from 2 p.m. to
2:30 p.m. Of course, the broadcast may be taped and viewed at another time.
The broadcast
was originally intended for middle and high school guidance counselors, but it
would be beneficial to all school personnel who work with secondary students as
they develop their high school courses of study. Viewers would profit from
having a copy of the PowerPoint presentation that will be used during the
broadcast since the teleconference addresses a wealth of information and moves
quickly. The PowerPoint presentation
may be accessed as Attachment A to this memorandum.
