SUBJECT:	Middle and High School Assistant Principals Leadership Conference - March 14-15, 2002 Radisson Fort Magruder, Williamsburg, Virginia

The Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP) and the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) are pleased to announce that the Annual Middle and High School Assistant Principals Leadership Conference will be held March 14-15, 2002, at the Radisson Fort Magruder. The theme for this conference is "Motivation, Education, Communication".

The newly appointed Secretary of Education, Dr. Belle S. Wheelan, will be the keynote speaker on Thursday, March 14. Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. Jo Lynne DeMary, will address the audience on Friday, March 15.

The conference will feature general and concurrent sessions on Virginia school law, IDEA, teacher evaluation and how to deal with different administrators. Staff members from the Department of Education will share the most recent update on issues related to accountability, impact of the Standards of Learning (SOL) in the 2002-03 classroom, and curriculum alignment and monitoring for SOL achievement.
