The
Dominion Educational Partnership Grant Opportunities in Mathematics and
Science, |
The Dominion Educational Partnership is an
educational grants fund designed to encourage development of new programs to
strengthen mathematics and science education in kindergarten through grade
12. Grants range from $500 to
$5,000. The Dominion Education
Partnership will award approximately $75,000 in grants. Virginias accredited public elementary and
secondary schools and public school divisions are eligible to apply. The application deadline is May 1, 2002.
Categories
of awards include
a)
Mini-grant: Projects to enhance the teaching of
mathematics and/or science;
b)
Parental
Involvement: Projects to increase the
role of parents in mathematics and/or science achievement;
c)
Closing the
Gap: Projects to help schools with
standardized test scores in mathematics and/or science below minimum state
performance standards; and
d)
Environmental
Education: Projects to develop
mathematics and/or science skills through environmental studies.
Project
proposals will be evaluated on a competitive basis on the extent to which they
a)
represent
innovative and promising instructional ideas;
b)
commit to
monitor, evaluate, and document progress in student learning;
c)
demonstrate
broad-based organizational and/or community support;
d)
meet a
compelling need; and
e)
provide a
well-defined budget and leverage other resources.
