History and
Social Science Sample Instructional Activities |
The Virginia
Department of Education, in collaboration with Newport News City Public
Schools, has developed sample instructional activities that support instruction
in history and social science. These sample instructional activities have now
been added to the Department of Educations website. The activities contained
in this document are presented as examples only. While some activities offer a
broader scope than that required by the History and Social Science Standards of
Learning, all of the standards for each grade level or course have not
necessarily been addressed. Teachers should rely on the 2001 History and
Social Science Curriculum Framework when developing lessons that align with
the History and Social Science Standards of Learning to ensure that all
critical content has been taught.
This
document, entitled Sample Instructional Activities for History and Social
Science, is located on the Department of Educations website at: http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/History/hsslessons.html.
