Virginia Reads Brochure

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to provide elementary schools with copies of the brochure, Virginia Reads. This parent brochure highlights the Virginia English Standards of Learning for kindergarten through the fifth grade, and provides suggestions for ways parents can assist their children in achieving these academic standards.

For this school year 2001-2002, brochures will be provided for parents of all children in kindergarten through fifth grade, according to the enrollment report that was submitted on September 30. These brochures were mailed directly to elementary schools during the week of April 8-12. If additional copies are needed please call Patricia Hicks at (804) 225-2400, or they are available in a PDF file on the Reading and Language Arts website http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/Reading/reading.html.
