Listening
Leads to Literacy Conference |
Virginia
Commonwealth University School of Education, Read Aloud Virginia, and Youth
Matters, a Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce regional initiative, are
sponsoring a reading conference, Listening Leads to Literacy, October 17-19,
2002, in Richmond.
The
activities on October 17 will be held at the Landmark Theatre. The keynote speaker will be Jim Trelease,
author of The Read-Aloud Handbook.
Suzanne Fisher Staples, author of Shabanu, Haveli, and Dangerous
Skies, will speak in the afternoon.
Tickets for this event are $30.00 at the door. Early group sales at $15.00 are available through June 1. For additional information, contact Gary

The
activities for October 18-19 include a presentation by Dr. James Comer, a Yale
