SUBJECT:	Read Aloud to a Child Week

The General Assembly has designated the week of October 20-26, 2002, as Read Aloud to a Child Week. We encourage all schools to promote reading aloud during this week. On the Read Aloud Virginia website http://www.readaloudva.org, you can find copies of a celebration tip sheet, certificate, sample parents letter, read aloud brochures, etc. On October 15 at 2:30 p.m. a DOE Hour will highlight read aloud information and will also feature a brief presentation by childrens book author Pamela Duncan Edwards and illustrator, Henry Cole.
