"2 + 4 in '04" Regional Presentations |
The
purpose of this memo is to announce regional presentations entitled "2 + 4
in '04" focusing on the graduation requirements for the Standard diploma
for the graduating class of 2004. As
you are aware, the graduating class of 2004 must meet the requirements set
forth in the 2000 Regulations for Establishing Standards for Accrediting
Public Schools in Virginia for the Advanced Studies, Standard, and Modified
diplomas. The Board of Education has approved for the transition students who
first entered the ninth grade in 2000‑01, 2001‑02, and 2002‑03
(graduating classes of 2004, 2005, and 2006) some flexible options for earning
verified credits toward a Standard diploma.
The
"2 + 4 in '04" presentations will focus on course options, the
verified credit options, and suggestions for recordkeeping with an emphasis on
Standard diploma students. The principal and at least one guidance counselor
from each secondary school are encouraged to attend the presentation. The Virginia Department of Education is
pleased to have the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals as a
supporter of these presentations.
