SUBJECT:	Distribution of Free Parents Brochure Help Your Child Take the Plunge

The new parents brochure, Help Your Child Take the Plunge, will be shipped soon to all middle school counselors, with additional copies for parents of eighth-grade students. This publication is a companion piece to the student magazine entitled r u ready? that was distributed last fall to all high school juniors. A copy of r u ready? and an announcement to middle school guidance counselors will also be sent.

The parents brochure contains specific guidelines for parents to follow in helping to prepare their child for high school courses, career-choice considerations, and continuing education. We hope that counselors will conduct a special parents event to introduce the brochure and to encourage parents to participate in their students transition to high school and beyond.
