Love-A-Tree Activity Kit |
This fall Virginias natural resource agencies are
again providing the Love-A-Tree activity kit designed for use by third,
fourth and sixth grade teachers. The kit contains activities and supplies that
encourage schoolyard investigations through inquiry-based lessons and are
correlated to the Science Standards of Learning.
The theme for this years Love-A-Tree activity kit
is The Power of Trees, which focuses on energy flow in living
systems. The activity kit includes the
following:
lesson plans;
a videotape on
outdoor learning;
a poster
depicting energy flow in a food web;
information
about energy and trees; and
supplies for
some of the activities.
The Love-A-Tree activity kit is available
to teachers at no charge and can only be ordered from October 1, 2003, to
October 24, 2003. Orders for the activity kits may be placed online at http://www.deq.state.va.us/education/latSurv.html. Teachers will be notified when kits are
available for pick-up at convenient regional sites.
