Resource to the K-12 Mathematics Standards of Learning Enhanced Scope and
Sequence |
In
Superintendents Memorandum, Informational, Number 35, dated February 13, 2004,
school divisions were notified of a supplemental resource for limited English
proficient (LEP) students to the K-12 Mathematics Standards of Learning
Enhanced Scope and Sequence. The
department is pleased to announce that the resource, Mathematics: Strategies
for Teaching Limited English Proficient (LEP) Students, A Supplemental Resource
to the K-12 Mathematics Standards of Learning Enhanced Scope and Sequence, is
available at the website listed below:

The
supplemental resource provides teachers with strategies for differentiating
instruction for LEP students. Teachers
and curriculum specialists are encouraged to use this resource in combination
with the K-12 Mathematics Standards of Learning Enhanced Scope and Sequence to
align classroom instruction with the Standards of Learning, develop sound
curriculum and instructional programs, and adapt mathematics instruction to
meet the needs of LEP students.
