Science and Technology Scholars Program |
The Micron
Technology Foundation offers a scholarship program that targets the best and
brightest high school seniors from five states, including Virginia. The Micron Science and Technology Scholars
program awards one $55,000 scholarship and twelve $16,500 scholarships to high
school seniors interested in studying physics, chemistry, electrical
engineering, computer engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, or
material science. At least two awards are
guaranteed in each participating state.
Students may use the scholarship money at any accredited four-year
institution. The high school of each
scholarship winner also receives a grant for $1,000 for science, mathematics,
and technology programs. Other
opportunities such as mentoring, an awards banquet, and a technology leadership
conference are available for Micron scholars.
Last year, Virginia students claimed four of the 13 scholarships,
including the top award.
