Data Driven Decision Making Seminar for Building
Level Administrators |
The Office of Educational Technology is sponsoring a
professional development training opportunity for principals, assistant
principals and central office leaders, in data driven decision-making.
Dr. Chris Hitch, from the Principals Executive
Program at the University of North Carolina, will conduct a hands-on workshop
on topics such as, transforming data into a diagnostic tool for instruction and
unlocking the power of spreadsheets to analyze data. Participants will also
create an eight-step action plan for data use that can be implemented
immediately in their schools and/or divisions. Participants will also use
Microsoft Excel to sort, filter, create pivot tables and analyze achievement
test results.

As a follow-up to the workshop, in October,
participants will be asked to share the challenges and successes of
implementing the new data driven decision-making skills they have learned. This
meeting will be conducted via a phone, video, or Web conference hosted by the
Office of Educational Technology.
Participation in this workshop is offered at no
charge to school divisions. Course materials, a continental style breakfast,
and lunch will be provided.

Class size is being limited to only 24 participants at each session and
