2007 Virginia Regional Middle School Science Bowl

 

The Virginia Regional Middle School Science Bowl is a tournament-style, team competition addressing topics in science, mathematics, and computer science. The 2007 competition is sponsored by the U. S. Department of Energy and will take place Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (the Jefferson Lab) in Newport News, Virginia.

 

Each team must consist of four or five middle school students grades 6 through 8. All team members must be from the same school and be accompanied by a team coach who is a teacher from that school. Each team for the state competition will be responsible for transportation and lodging expenses for the team and coach.

 

Prizes for first, second, and third place teams, including trophies and funds for the schools science department will be awarded. The winning team will also continue to the National Middle School Science Bowl, to be held June 21-24, 2007, at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado. The U. S. Department of Energy will pay all expenses for the winning team to attend the national competition.
