Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program |
I am pleased
to bring to your attention the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Jesse Brown
Memorial Youth Scholarship Program. This
scholarship recognizes outstanding young volunteers by awarding annual scholarships
that may be used for continued education.
Students must
complete their volunteer work at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
facility, usually a VA medical center, in a VA Voluntary Services approved
activity. A minimum of one hundred hours
of voluntary service must be completed in the name of the DAV to be considered
for a scholarship.
Twelve
scholarships with a combined value of $80,000, are
awarded annually. The scholarships
provide for a first place prize which includes a $15,000 scholarship and an
expense paid trip to DAVs National Convention with his/her
parent(s)/guardian(s) for the award presentation. The second place prize consists of a $10,000
scholarship. Two third place prizes
consist of $7,500 scholarships each and eight fourth place prizes consist of
$5,000 scholarships each.
