SUBJECT:	Recognition of an Outstanding Middle or Secondary Mathematics or Science Teacher by the Virginia Tech Chapter of Sigma Xi

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce that the Virginia Tech Chapter of Sigma Xi will be recognizing an outstanding middle or secondary mathematics or science teacher. This award is part of Sigma Xi's national program, intended to recognize career-long commitments to providing meaningful learning experiences for students.

The selected teacher will receive an engraved plaque and a $500 cash award presented at Sigma Xis annual initiation and awards banquet in Blacksburg in April 2008. In addition, $500 is donated to the teacher's school in support of mathematics and science programs. Costs for the honoree and his or her principal to travel to and attend the banquet will be fully reimbursed.
