| SUBJECT: | The Addition of the Middle School Writing Modules in Support of Project Graduation |
The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce the addition of the Middle School Writing Modules in Support of Project Graduation to the resources available for middle school English teachers.
The modules, aligned to the 2002 Standards of Learning, support tested writing standards. This Web-based resource will provide teachers with over 70 one-hour lesson plans to enhance the teaching of writing. Lessons focus on using the three-domain rubric; setting up and using writing portfolios; and revising, and editing lessons to encourage the development of a strong essay. This resource is not a complete curriculum and is neither required nor prescriptive, but it can be a valuable instructional tool. The modules are available at the following links:
